It's...It's also known as ajuga or goutweed. It's low rhizome-spreading plant with light green leaves edged in white. The flowers are similar to Queen Anne's Lace.

http://lostsurprise.blogspot.com/search?q=bishops+weed

Here's a link to my big grading and plant yanking project last year. I think there's some pictures in there. You can see them all over my iris.

I don't hate it, actually. It makes a nice groundcover, especially under trees. It's like mint, oregano, and lily of the valley though. It takes over. It takes more weeding time then anything else in my yard.Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06111603742877378974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5172018271137170502.post-91437497723192648442009-06-05T09:18:27.781-05:002009-06-05T09:18:27.781-05:00Except we don't have rabbits, horses, deer, sh...Except we don't have rabbits, horses, deer, sheep, etc (or the shell of a destroyed church). But I'm sure St. Francis would go skipping through our yard singing nonetheless. =)Aimeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04570718941895225222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5172018271137170502.post-65145295998031173752009-06-04T16:11:42.705-05:002009-06-04T16:11:42.705-05:00It reminds me of this exert from Brother Sun Siste...It reminds me of this exert from Brother Sun Sister Moon.Jed Carosaarihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10775889983099808362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5172018271137170502.post-91438503146727651482009-06-04T15:21:52.309-05:002009-06-04T15:21:52.309-05:00Hmm, I'm not sure what Bishop's Weed is. But I'm sure if it likes to take over everything we might have it. =) Virginia Bluebell...I'll have to ask our plant expert to confirm. =)

Hey Anna, how embarrassing. Of course that's not clover! I know what clover looks like. It's a pretty tiny flower, but maybe it is oxalis. I'll have to get more opinions. Thanks!Aimeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04570718941895225222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5172018271137170502.post-7663999940958271372009-06-04T14:55:42.032-05:002009-06-04T14:55:42.032-05:00unless you guys have a totally different plant you...unless you guys have a totally different plant you call clover, that's not clover! I'm pretty sure it's an oxalis (wood sorrel).

great photos Aimee =)Anna Dunfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12362143051124854821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5172018271137170502.post-60360787543417036712009-06-04T12:06:11.944-05:002009-06-04T12:06:11.944-05:00Wow! ...Wow! Did I mention you have a really great yard?

That could be Virginia bluebell.

Lily of the valley are dear to me but they are so incorrigible. I yanked and yanked bishop's weed and LotV last year when I was fixing the grade and making new beds. Then I piled cardboard and compost over them and they're still coming back this year!

It's a good thing they smell so nice. I might take it personally. ;)Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06111603742877378974noreply@blogger.com
