Wild birds

We had this bird feeder back at the old house. It took us almost a year to pick up a new bag of seed to fill up the feeder.

It took the birds a whole week to discover the feeder was full of seed.

It took them one day to eat everything!

And the squirrel showed up the next day.

I wish we had gotten seed months ago. There is nothing like a flock of wild birds twittering happily and zooming around your yard to make winter a little more bearable.

That is so true! But they're greedy little buggers and keep you running for more seed.
My doctor has bird feeders outside her office and waiting room windows, and my blood pressure's always good when she takes it!

Squirrels are evil, but real. You can put Cayenne, hot red pepper, in the bird food, the birds don't care. Some people don't like this idea. I have gotten a anti-squirrel feeder, there are many versions. None perfect.
But, squirrels are pretty tasty too, so just eat them! Chickens without feathers!

I just heard about cayenne pepper in the bird feeder yesterday! Although, we sprinkled cayenne in our nasturtium pots two years ago and that didn't stop the squirrels from digging them up every other day. Grr.
Our neighbor shoots the squirrels so there aren't a lot that hang around here.
We've thought about eating them (fried squirrel was my favorite when I was a kid!) but I'm a bit dubious about eating city raised (trash eating) squirrels. Maybe if we get desperate...
